Tom Hardy could be set to don the famous tux as he becomes the new James Bond, according to a new slew of rumours.
With Daniel Craig’s fifth and final outing as the M16 agent set to land in cinemas in November, rumours of who will replace him have gone into overdrive.
Basically, if you’re British and have been on the small or big screen in the past year or so, your name has probably been linked to Bond – for the first time ever we’ve even seen a number of women tipped for the role.
Hardy has long been one of the bookies’ favourites for the role and now the Vulcan Reporter has claimed to have heard the news all the way back in June, claiming that Hardy was offered the part following a successful audition.
The report goes on to claim that Hardy was initially due to be announced as the new Bond in November – the same month No Time To Die is set to be released – however, this has since been pushed back because of the pandemic and the announcement will now be made later this year or early 2021.
Meanwhile, Christopher Nolan, who is a fan favourite to be involved in future Bond flicks, has worked with Hardy previously and has also said he thinks the 43-year-old would be ‘amazing’ as the iconic spy.
He told MTV’s Happy Sad Confused podcast back in 2017: “He’d be amazing. He really would.”
As ever, until it’s confirmed, I’d take all rumours with a hefty pinch of salt, but Hardy is certainly an interesting choice for the role.
No Time To Die was initially set to be released in April, but this date was pushed back due to the coronavirus pandemic – fans will have to wait until 12 November to see Craig doing his last turn as 007.
The new flick also stars Rami Malek as villain Safin as well as Knives Out star Ana de Armas and Captain Marvel’s Lashana Lynch.
A synopsis for the upcoming movie reads: “James Bond has left active service and is enjoying a tranquil life in Jamaica. The short-lived peace ended when his old friend Felix Leiter from the CIA turns up asking for help.
The mission of rescuing a kidnapped scientist turns out to be far more treacherous than expected, leading Bond onto the trail of a mysterious villain armed with dangerous new technology.
